Upholstery Care & Cleaning

Don't sweat the messes. Caring for your Sunbrella® fabrics is easy so you can live worry-free

One of the best ways to keep Sunbrella® fabrics looking good is to properly maintain the fabrics. This can be accomplished by simply brushing off dirt before it becomes embedded in the fabrics, wiping up spills or cleaning soon after a stain occurs. This helps aid in the complete removal of a stain. The longer spills and stains remain on the fabric, the more difficult they can be to remove.

Re-treating the fabric for ease of cleaning

As part of the finishing process, Sunbrella fabrics are treated with a fluorocarbon finish, which enhances water repellency. This finish is designed to last for several years, but must be replenished after a thorough cleaning. Based on test results, Glen Raven® recommends 303® Fabric GuardTM as the preferred re-treatment product for Sunbrella fabrics. Fabrics should be re-treated after thorough cleaning or as needed.

Tips of the Trade

Remember: When it comes to stains and mildew/mould growth, prevention is always better than cure!

Mildew/mould growth on outdoor fabrics is one of the more unsightly and annoying problems. This occurs from dust, dirt and airborne pollutants settling and embedding in the fabrics which in turn can promote mildew/mould growth.

Frequent light cleaning, a hosing and brushing off can help prevent this along with a recommended fabric treatment.

If mildew/mould growth or heavier staining has occurred then a better clean with recommended products should still remove most of the stains.
